It is without a doubt that the Sale & Purchase Agreement signed by the 'keluarga diraja, bangsa diraja, lombong diraja' family and Headlines International Sdn Bhd (the Purchaser) a few years ago is a blessing in disguise. If it weren't for the sale of a parcel of vacant freehold land located in Tambun to Headlines International Sdn Bhd, descendants of the man who hid behind the alias known today as Kulup Lembang would never have been inspired to study the fascinating history of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), which holds a special significance in the history of the Purchaser’s Solicitor, Saiful Arshad & Co.
As of the time of writing, the 'keluarga diraja, bangsa diraja, lombong diraja' family, outrageously, has yet to receive proceeds from the sale of their shared property! Fortunately, the knowledge that has been gleaned from studying the parties involved in the aforementioned SPA has proven to be priceless, truly priceless.
Abdul Daim, brother of Che Mohd Senawi
It has recently been discovered that the world's most well-known Abdul Daim was once a member of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) from the year 2018 to 2020. This discovery is particularly interesting because Abdul Daim served as an accomplished Deputy Public Prosecutor in Ipoh from 1964 to 1965. Equally remarkable is the fact that his late brother, Che Mohd Senawi, held the position of acting State Secretary of Perak during the same period, from 1964 to 1965. This tenure coincided with the reign of Sultan Idris Shah II and the Menteri Besarship of Dato Ahmad Said (later Dato Seri Haji Ahmad Said). Additionally, in 1962, Che Mohd Senawi succeeded Tengku Syed Abdullah bin Tengku Syed Omar as the new Kinta District Officer.1
Tambun’s Corridors of Power
It was the late Sultan Idris Shah II who built the million-dollar hilltop palace in Tambun in the late 1970s. Interestingly, the grandson of the late Dato Seri Haji Ahmad Said became a prominent youth leader and Committee Member of the UMNO Tambun division a few years ago. He remains highly active in the local political scene to this day.2
From Sultan Idris Mines to Idris Hydraulic (Malaysia) Bhd
Sultan Idris Mines, as the name suggests, must have been named after Sultan Idris Shah I, the grandfather of the late Sultan Idris Shah II. It is quite remarkable to see that many years later, Che Mohd Senawi’s son became the Chairman of Idris Hydraulic (Malaysia) Bhd, a company deeply rooted in the history of Sultan Idris Mines.3
Jealousy with a cause
Descendants of Kulup Lembang have every right to be envious of past Kinta District Officers. They had access to various memoranda, letters, reports, and documents regarding Kulup Lembang's hundreds of acres of mining properties and, of course, his responsibility as the executor of the estate of the fabulously rich Panglima Kinta Abdul Wahab. These are just some of the amazing facts that many descendants of Kulup Lembang are not fully aware of today.
What is odd about Tambun?
Descendants of Kulup Lembang, especially those living outside of Tambun, ought to ponder this question more often, for there is something quite odd but at the same time quite special about Tambun.
It is probably the reason why your relatives in Tambun, no matter how hard they try to hide it, they cannot stop their bodies from unconsciously showing signs of distress or discomfort whenever they hear that you are thinking about moving to Tambun or purchasing a new home in Tambun.
I'm getting rather too old to solve puzzles and riddles. What about the younger living descendants of Kulup Lembang out there? Do you know what sets Tambun apart from other places? Any distinctive traits? Do you have any insights into what makes Tambun different from other locations?
